WILL MY RUTLAND LONDON SINK FAUCETS PATINA?

ARE SINK FAUCETS & BATH FILLERS DIFFERENT?

Yes, sink faucets are different to bath fillers in a number of ways. Firstly, sink faucets generally feature ½” connections whereas bath fillers feature ¾” connections. These larger connections allow more water to flow through the faucets to ensure your bath is filled as quickly as possible - although this volume of water is unsuitable for most sinks. Other differences are that generally sink faucets have shorter spouts to cater for smaller sink rims and also that bath fillers can be specified in a freestanding configuration for installation with freestanding cast iron bathtubs.

WHAT IS A SINK DRAIN?

A sink drain is the brass assembly which is inserted through the sink in which the plug is usually housed. In addition to this, your sink drain will either be slotted or unslotted depending on whether your sink has an overflow or not - if your sink has an overflow (which most sinks do), you will require a slotted drain to allow the water to drain away. Importantly, the waste housing will feature a thread to allow the connection with the P-trap below. 

WHAT IS A P-TRAP?

P-traps are pipework installations fitted below the sink to carry waste water away from the sink. Their “bottle” design is intended to stop unpleasant drain smells entering the bathroom from the drainage system. In many instances installers will seek to install plastic arrangements, however brass bottle P-traps from Rutland London should always be specified where this pipework will be exposed and visible (such as with a brass console sink).
